Titewad powder load data
I have seen many recipes for lead shots but not much on steel shots. If someone who is reloading steel could offer some recipe suggestions for 7/8 oz load and 1oz loads it would be much appreciated. I have Hodgdon Titewad for powder, Federal or clay buster wads, Cheddite 209 primers, Remington STS, Nitro, and new syle AA hulls available to load.My final recipe. 13.5-13.7 grains of Titegroup powder allowing for variance of manual scale. 382-392 grains of shot (7/8ths oz) CB4100-12B (Lightning) wads or CB0178-12. this recipe also worked for 404 grains of shot which I loaded some prior to my 7/8ths bars for my Dillon coming in. I have reloaded 7/8 and 9/8 loads and they work fine with same components and powders, but I favor the 1 oz, 8's, 7-1/2 or duplex loads, 50/50 mix. I have also found E3 and Promo excellent powders when I could not get my favorite Hodgdon powders.

To get a good crimp, you need a compact powder, and Tightwad works well. It makes a nice soft 1150 fps shotshell. My experience with various powders for the .44 Magnum have varied depending on the firearm used. My handguns did well with Unique powder and cast bullets. My rifles preferred IMR4227 and jacketed bullets. So it depends what your firearm prefers.
Feb 4, 2023 · Yep the Hodgdon website shows that 16.2 grains is the max load you can shoot. Your 1 1/8 oz. load should be at 1,145 fps as well. No 1,200 fps loads with your Titewad powder!!!
