I agree with you when you side with Cameron (1995) when he says "a position that is to some extent critical of both camps" as I currently sit on the fence..

Very technically, dictionaries themselves are descriptivist; often people who say that meaning should be derived from the dictionary will often be a prescriptivist, but when a dictionary adds in a new definition for a word because it's being used in a different way (as happened with 'literally', for example) they will just disagree or say it doesn't count.. You can describe a language as a product of sexism if it exhibits characteristics that enforce bias against a gender.
