Dec 1, 2006 · Only downsides to the XD [was] the finish that wore off, no extended slide releases (which is only needed for us lefties), and the fact that the IDPA crew doesn't think it's a Service Pistol due to it's trigger internals. The XD's slide is a little thicker than the G-19, but with the right holster it's a non-issue. The Glock 19 is more conceallable than the XD service model (4"). The Glock is alittle slimmer and it has a shorter grip than the full size grip on the XD 4". The Ruger P89 is probably very close in size (height, width) to the XD 4", mabey alittle longer.gsmullins. Owned and shot both Glock and XD side-by-side, liked both, ultimately decided to go with Glock. In the subcompact family, I found G26/27 to be smaller and lighter than their XD counterparts, and Glock to be more customizable and parts easier to get for all models, with a slight price advantage to Glock.
