Getrag 265 w/removable bellhousing is well known as the strongest transmission of that era. It came on the '82 528e, '85 535/635, and e30 m3. I read somwhere that you have to use a different pilot bearing, is that true? oR i can i just use the one out of an e36? I'm talking about the tiny bearing in the back of the ... Many here prefer the Red Line synthetics, but Mr 325 is correct. However make sure it is a GL-4 75w90 gear oil. Do not use a GL-5 oil in the transmission. While we're at it, the differential takes a 75w90 GL-5 gear oil. Many prefer the Red Line 75w90. The 75w90NS can only be used in a non-LSD unit. ….
