Blacksmith Lenigrast is a gruff and somewhat cynical individual, but he is also loyal to those he considers friends. They're faster, lighter, deal similar damage on trades, and often have better movesets. Rapiers and katanas were top tier in Dark Souls as they are in Dark Souls II. Its damage per stamina consumption is amazing. 2h r1 spam does an incredible amount of poise damage, enough to stagger nearly any non boss in the game.

Oh and it can still shield-poke. Estoc does wonders in both pvp and pve. The swipe is great, bypassing shields is a plus, str scaling is typically stronger than dex scaling, and it deals double the poise damage of the rapier, which most opponents will assume it is. Probably Rapier for PvE, since it has more damage.best rapier factually is the ice rapier because it basically has the best of everything (though its R2 is pretty bad; the estoc wins out here). the range, damage, poise damage, and counter damage are all either equal or second-best in class. but the damn thing is hideous and only a******s use it. in my opinion, the best rapier is the standard ...Mace or rapier are the 2 best early game weapons. Just choose the one you prefer. Honestly, "all weapons are viable for pve its what moveset you prefer". That said, here are some of the standard go-to choices. For dex builds, rapier is great. If you are going str or split, the estoc is a good alternative. Ricard's rapier for an upgrade over the ...5. Bastard Sword. If a weapon could have the “trusty old friend” title, this is the one that deserves it the most. The Bastard Sword is one of the most iconic simple weapons in the franchise. This is (and the Claymore) usually the first greatsword a newcomer will come across.

Rapiers have a long window. So the attack should hit you as your parry is half way done. That's the best way for me to explain it. Originally posted by Harrison Ford: Okay, here's your OP PvE build: Step 1: Get Rapier. At some point early on, infuse it with Dark. While a Raw-Infusion give slightly more base damage it also greatly reduces scaling. If you (for some reason) only have the minimum needed stats tu weil it efficently go for raw.
